One story, one dance
A dance theatre workshop for people 65+
In this workshop we are going to play movement and body games through improvisation aiming to create a short dance theatre act which we will present to an open public.
The inspiration will be the personal stories –narrations of the participants with the subject “Talk to me about the oldest story that you remember”. These stories will be studied with various imaginative ways that will lead us to nice and tender live images full of dance, music and theatrical elements. The atmosphere of the act will be influenced by the traditional music of Syros and the sweetness of the islands’ famous sweets.
The movement “tools” that we will use are the following:
- Bringing in to life photographs and images of the everyday life in Syros
- Transferring and designs in the space
- Exploring the ideas of “back” and “forward” in space and time
- Rhythmical patterns deriving from the music
In order for someone to participate in the workshop the only requirement is to really want to be part of it and dance with other people. No previous experience is needed whereas any knowledge of traditional dances is always welcomed.

With her company she had choreographed numerous works since 1996 and as a choreographer she has designed the movement for many theatre productions. Since 2014 she created together with her collaborators the lesson and group Kinitiras M (mature age) where she works with people over 60 training them into dance theatre techniques and creating performances. This year she will travel with KinitirasM group to stAGE Festival in Germany, to show the work “Eros and Psyche”.
